Core Values

The Six G's

We believe that a relationship with Jesus is the most important relationship one can have. That is why we invite people to follow Jesus. For it is only in a relationship with Jesus can one fully experience grace and discover purpose. As part of the Crossroads family, it is our desire to involve ourselves in some primary activities that will help us experience the abundant life that Jesus promises.

Follow Jesus. Experience Grace. Discover purpose

In Scripture, we read that anyone who comes to Christ is a new creation. There is an immediate new identity but change doesn't happen all at once. It takes intentionality. We have identified four practices here at Crossroads, East Islip.

Core Practices

  • Gather.

The local church is called to joyfully gather together to worship. We also gather for fellowship and for study. We gather with fellow church members, with our neighbors, and with other friends. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

  • Grow.

Those who followed Jesus grew in their knowledge of him and of his word. We want to know more about the Bible. We want to learn more about how God wants us to live and serve. We want to grow in godliness and in our compassion.

  • Give

God has called us to be joyful givers of time, money, and other resources. We give to those who are in need, sharing generously so that our community is blessed.

  • Go

Christ has called each believer to love, serve, and share Jesus with their neighbor, community, and world. Jesus commissioned all believers in Matthew 28:19-20 saying, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

  • Gospel

The gospel is the foundation for all we do. It is both the message and the motivation. A great definition of the gospel is this:“We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.” (Timothy Keller). Gospel means "good news" and it is our desire to proclaim the truth of the gospel to all.

  • Grace

The Bible tells us that we are saved by grace, not by our works. The truth of the matter is this: We will always come up "short." We will never be good enough without Jesus. We need grace, both from God and from one another. We can't earn it. We don't deserve it. But God grants it. And just like God gives grace to each one of us, we want to give grace to one another.
